World Environment Day

World Environmental Day Cindy Mangomini

Today is World Environment Day and this year’s theme is Beat Plastic Pollution. That’s why I thought I’d share some of the small changes that I’ve recently made to reduce my waste, especially my plastic waste. It’s not perfect by far, but I’m trying to be more mindful about it. If everyone does a little bit, together we can accomplish a lot! The small changes that I’ve illustrated here are sรณ easy to make, I feel that anyone can make them.

  • Switch to a bamboo toothbrush
  • Use washable face cleaning pads
  • Use fabric napkins
  • Carry a (fabric) napkin, spork and reusable coffee cup with me
  • Buying fruit and vegetables at the local market in (very cute) reusable cotton bags to avoid plastic-wrapped supermarket products.
  • Always choose a non-plastic packaging option for everything I buy. (If there is one.)
  • Make some products myself from all natural ingredients. (Sea salt spray, dry shampoo and face toner for example are all very easy (and fun) to make. You can find many tutorials on how to do this on YouTube and Pinterest.

These are just some of the things that I’ve personally started doing. If you want more tips on how to reduce your waste there are tons of YouTube videos you can watch on this topic. I like watching these because I keep finding new ideas on how to improve my waste reduction. Hopefully soon I can make a new illustration with the next “green” steps that I’ve taken. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hello May!

Things To Do, Wear & Enjoy In May, Illustrated.

Hello May! A new month, a new calendar page. And even though this illustration was made almost one year ago, it’s still pretty close to what I’m wearing and doing most at the moment. I tend to stick more and more to simple basics, paired with cute shoes and accessories. I’ve also turned into a real plant lady, and that’s also starting to show in my work.

Happy King’s Day!

2018 Kings Day Mangomini

Happy King’s day! Today we Dutchies celebrate our King’s birthday. That means: celebrating all day, preferably outside, and everything (including yourself) in orange!

For my non-Dutch followers, some of the typical Dutch foods in here are (from top to bottom):ย  tompoes (a very sweet pastry, with an orange layer especially for King’s Day), drop (salty liquorice), stroopwafel (waffle filled with caramel syrup) and hagelslag (chocolate sprinkles to eat on your bread, usually for breakfast).

The book is: The Cather in the Rye by J.D. Salinger

Meet the Artist, Illustrated.

Meet the Illustrator, In Drawings, Of Course!

This is my illustrated version of “Meet the Artist”. I don’t share a lot of personal stuff on social media, but this is a way to get to know a little bit more about me. As you can see I love tea (drink it all day, everyday), books, plants, thrift store shopping, making lists and plans, using my favourite art supplies, patchouli perfume and I drink rosรฉ wine even in winter. I don’t like phone calls (I never answer because I panic!) and I hate it when I accidentally mistake my paint-water for my tea…..yuck!

Book: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.
