Happy King’s Day!

Nederland Mangomini low

Happy King’s day! Today we Dutchies celebrate our King’s birthday. That means: celebrating all day, preferably outside, and everything (including ourselves) in orange!
This is my “Nederland” postcard, with typical Dutch things on it. We may be a small country but there’s still a lot to love here and it’s usually very ‘gezellig’, especially on a day like today!

For my non-Dutch followers, some of the typical Dutch foods on here are (from top to bottom): hagelslag (chocolate sprinkles to eat on your bread, usually for breakfast), stroopwafel (waffle filled with caramel syrup), patatje met (French fries with mayonnaise), tompoes (a very sweet pastry) and drop (salty liquorice).

Card available in my Etsy shop, here.

We’ve had some lovely spring weather here in the Netherlands lately and this is what I’ve been wearing (and doing) most. One of the books I’m currently reading is The little book of Hygge by Meik Wiking. I’ll definitely be making some illustrations inspired by this theme soon! And of course I’m always carrying my Dopper water bottle filled with fresh tap water to reduce my plastic waste.
