Simple Ways To Reduce Waste, An Illustrated Guide.

Celebrate World Environment Day with these simple zero waste swaps.

Today is World Environment Day, a day for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of the environment. This hand drawn infographic shows some the ways I’ve been trying to reduce my waste, especially plastic waste.💚💚💚💚

Steps towards a plastic-free life

One of the main ways I’m reducing my waste, is by buying less plastic, especially single-use plastic. These are a few steps I’m taking.

First, I use up everything I have . Once something is used up I ask myself if I really need to replace the product. If I feel I need it I look for a plastic-free alternative and make sure I recycle the old packaging. If I don’t find the product completely plastic-free (often there’s a plastic cap even on a glass jar or bottle) I go for the most sustainable option and a product made with natural ingredients.

To avoid single use plastic I make sure I always carry a reusable handkerchief, napkin, spork and straw. For grocery shopping I bring my backpack, an extra tote bag and my own little produce bags to the shop.

The illustration above shows even more things I do to reduce ways. I hope you find them useful. If you do, I have them available on a postcard on Etsy, to keep as positive inspiration. You can also follow me on Instagram for more regular updates on my low waste journey.

Wine A Little!

So, I just found out that yesterday, not today, was National Wine Day. I thought it was today, but let’s not whine about that, and let’s wine instead.  Cheers! PS. This is coming on a postcard to my Etsy shop very soon.

Celebrate Whatever!

Happy Today! I often use special days or fun holidays as inspiration for my drawings, but you really don’t need a special day or achievement to celebrate. At the moment even ordinary things can feel like a real challenge, like putting on pants or going to the supermarket. So today, be kind to yourself and celebrate the small things. It’s a day and you’re still awesome! (Even if it sometimes doesn’t feel like that.)

Eat What You Want Day

Happy National Eat What You Want Day!

If you’re looking for a reason to celebrate today and treat yourself food wise, I’m happy to let you know that today (May 11th) is ‘Eat What You Want Day‘! 😃 For me that looks something like this. These are some of my absolute favorite foods and snacks. I could eat (and drink) these every day, and probably would, if it wasn’t so unhealthy to do so. What are your favorite (guilty pleasure) foods?⁣ And do you have any quarantine-cravings? 😋🍫🍕

Netflix and… Quarantine!

Another weekend stuck at home. I updated this one again with only things that are actually my quarantine favorites. Like playing online Scrabble, eating home made brownies for breakfast (sometimes!), too much pizza, plant babies everywhere and, of course, rosé wine. I hope you’re having a good weekend and staying safe! 💚

Happy Earth Day!

Low waste swaps 1 2 3 4 combined Mangomini

Happy Earth Day! Today is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. That’s why I’m sharing another update about my journey towards low waste living, in illustrated form, of course. These are changes that I’ve personally made over the last few years to reduce my waste, especially plastic. It’s still not perfect by far but we all have to start somewhere. If everyone tries a little, together we can accomplish a lot!

It also doesn’t have to be expensive. I actually buy much less now. I’m using up all old products and replacing only what I need. When I do decide to buy something I try to find high quality products that are eco-friendly and/or fair-trade, that I can really enjoy for a long time. I also love to shop vintage.
What are you doing to reduce your waste? New ideas are always welcome! Stay safe, stay positive and go green! 💚

Simple Ways To Reduce Waste In Your Bathroom.

Tomorrow is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. What better day to think about small changes we all can make to help save the planet?
This illustration is part 4 in my zero/low waste infographic series about the changes that I’ve personally made to help reduce my waste, especially plastic. This one is all about zero- or low waste bathroom swaps. I’m still not zero waste by far, but I’m constantly trying to improve. My absolute favorite low waste bathroom products are multi-purpose products, like coconut oil, jojoba oil & aloe vera gel. I also like to mix more and more products myself. More tips and ideas are always welcome.💚

Pajamas All Day!

Happy National Wear Your Pajamas To Work Day!

Today, April 16th, is National Wear Your Pajamas To Work Day, which this year is a “normal” day for many. As an illustrator I’m used to working from home, so wearing pajames to work is never a problem 😉 In this illustration you can see some of the things that can usually be found in my work space. (Tea & chocolate ALWAYS!) While working I like to listen to music or podcasts. Some podcasts that I’ve been enjoying lately are Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend, Happy Place and the Goop podcast. Recommendations are always welcome. Stay safe at home, in your pajamas, if you can!💚
