Low Waste Spring Ideas, In Drawings.

2021 Low waste spring Mangomini

Simple Ways To Reduce Waste And Save Energy This Spring.

Every new season is a chance for a fresh start. In this illustration I’ve summed up some of the things that I will be doing to reduce waste and save energy this spring. Today also happens to be Global Recycling Day, that’s why I thought this would be a good day to share this drawing.

Going completely zero waste can be hard, but by making little changes reducing waste and saving energy is actually quite simple. It doesn’t have to be perfect to make a difference.

Low Waste Holiday Gift Ideas, In Drawings.

Affordable Sustainable Gift Guide.

If you’ve followed my illustration work over the last years, you may have noticed that I’m trying to reduce my waste and live a more minimalistic life. My goal: less stuff, less waste, more quality, more adventure!

This has totally changed the way I shop. I like to call it “consciously unshopping” haha. I still shop a little bit of course, but only things that I need or know I will love and use for a long time.

Buy less, but better.

Hopefully this illustration will inspire you to also “shop less, but better”, starting this Holiday season. I really hope you will choose to support small and local businesses, because we need it more than ever this year! My own Etsy shop ships worldwide and is filled with cute hand drawn illustrated cards, prints and calendars.💚

Super Easy Zero Waste Swaps #2

Simple zero waste swap Number 2: Carry your own zero waste kit with you.
I usually have mine in a little separate bag in my backpack or bag. I have a cloth napkin and handkerchief in there, a reusable straw & spork, ánd a tiny fork because I love to get French fries. 🍟The coffee cup and stirrer I only take when I plan to get coffee, because I’m not really a big coffee drinker.
I do often get some very surprised looks (and laughs) when I take my own napkin or straw out of my bag. But I don’t mind and when I explain why I do it, usually people agree that it actually makes a lot of sense.
This is just one of the many small things you can do to start reducing your waste. If everyone tries a little bit, together we can accomplish a lot! 💚

Super Easy Zero Waste Swaps #1

Going completely zero waste can be challenging, but there are so many little things that can already make a difference. Inspired by #plasticfreejuly, I’m going to be sharing some super simple zero (or low) waste swaps on here. Like choosing an ice cream cone over a cup. It saves a single use cup and a (plastic) spoon. Extra points for bringing your own cloth napkin! Come on, you can do this! 💚🍦

Simple Ways To Reduce Waste, An Illustrated Guide.

Celebrate World Environment Day with these simple zero waste swaps.

Today is World Environment Day, a day for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of the environment. This hand drawn infographic shows some the ways I’ve been trying to reduce my waste, especially plastic waste.💚💚💚💚

Steps towards a plastic-free life

One of the main ways I’m reducing my waste, is by buying less plastic, especially single-use plastic. These are a few steps I’m taking.

First, I use up everything I have . Once something is used up I ask myself if I really need to replace the product. If I feel I need it I look for a plastic-free alternative and make sure I recycle the old packaging. If I don’t find the product completely plastic-free (often there’s a plastic cap even on a glass jar or bottle) I go for the most sustainable option and a product made with natural ingredients.

To avoid single use plastic I make sure I always carry a reusable handkerchief, napkin, spork and straw. For grocery shopping I bring my backpack, an extra tote bag and my own little produce bags to the shop.

The illustration above shows even more things I do to reduce ways. I hope you find them useful. If you do, I have them available on a postcard on Etsy, to keep as positive inspiration. You can also follow me on Instagram for more regular updates on my low waste journey.

Warm Sweater Day

Today is Warm Sweater Day, a Dutch national initiative that draws attention to saving energy. If we all become more aware of the energy that we use, we can help protect the environment. So today (and why not every day?) turn down the heating a little, put on your favourite warm sweater and save energy. Extra points for wearing a vintage sweater! 😉 #warmetruiendag

Low-waste swaps, part 2

Low waste swaps part2 Cindy Mangomini

As promised a while ago, here’s a small update on what I’m doing to live a more low-waste and minimal life. This past year I’ve slowly been using up all the products I already own and when I finish a product I first ask myself: do I really need it? If I feel I do, I try to look for a natural DIY recipe online. If that’s not available I try to buy a plastic free version of the product that I’m replacing. It’s not perfect and not always possible, but it feels good to try. I think if everyone tries a little, together we can achieve a lot. Hopefully another update soon!
